Land is a life-sustaining link between Earth's climate and biodiversity and offers a wide variety of ecosystems that need to be restored and preserved. Half of humanity is already affected by the negative effects of industrial overuse of soils and massive land degradation. This volume vividly focuses on this burning issue of our time and opulently presents works by important contemporary artists. With contributions from authors from the global North and South, including Indigenous perspectives on the topic of renaturalization, this richly illustrated volume inspires people to take action.

Author Biography

The UNCCD/G20 Global Land Initiative is a product of the G20, or Group of Twenty, an intergovernmental forum of the world's major developed and developing economies. The ambition of this Global Initiative is to prevent, halt, and reverse land degradation and reduce degraded land by fifty percent by 2040. The Bundeskunsthalle is a museum in Bonn that presents a wide range of exhibitions devoted to art and cultural history, as well as to science, technology, and the environment.
