She believes he is out there somewhere, someone with a zest for life, who she can connect with, share her ambitions with, socialize with and have fun with.
With the practical wisdom of an older woman, Susan is not blinded by her feelings, nor the declarations of "love" expressed by some of the men she meets, regarding these with a healthy dose of scepticism. Although not always easy for her, she manages to accept failed encounters with philosophical aplomb and many of these result in long- term friendships and playing scammers at their own game.
