Author Biography

The author is a retired attorney who went back to undergraduate and graduate school in art history. This was done to gain additional insight and understanding in furthering his knowledge of 19th century American landscape paintings. The author's first book, Art as Investment: An Anthology of Academic Research Papers from the past 100 Years, brings into historical context the current discussion as to art as a suitable alternative asset. His second book, Three Wounded Champions of American Tonalism is within the same context of this book and highlights the life and work of Ralph Albert Blakelock, Alexander Helwig Wyant and Homer Dodge Martin. It contains the auction prices from 1946 - 2015 with adjusted current prices. As an accidental art dealer in 19th century American paintings, the author has been surprises, on numerous occasions, with the lack of basic knowledge which the average collector and enthusiast has on the subject.
