We also learn that there was no "racist massacre" at the Battle of Fort Pillow, that Forrest was neither the founder or the Grand Wizard of the original KKK - or what the author calls the "Reconstruction KKK" (1865-1869), that it was not a racist organization but rather a Conservative, pro-Constitution, anti-carpetbag group with no connection to the modern KKK (founded in 1915), and that thousands of African-Americans not only supported it and even assisted it, there was also an all-black Ku Klux Klan in Nashville, Tennessee.
