Jacob H. Schiff: His Life and Letters V2 is a biographical book written by Cyrus Adler. It tells the story of Jacob H. Schiff, a prominent Jewish-American banker and philanthropist who lived from 1847 to 1920. The book is the second volume of a two-part series that covers Schiff's life and career in detail. The book is based on Schiff's personal letters and documents, as well as interviews with his family and friends. It provides a comprehensive account of Schiff's rise to prominence in the banking industry, his contributions to the Jewish community, and his involvement in various philanthropic causes. The book also delves into Schiff's personal life, including his marriage to Therese Schiff and his relationships with his children. It explores his views on politics, including his support for the Republican Party and his opposition to the policies of President Woodrow Wilson. Overall, Jacob H. Schiff: His Life and Letters V2 offers a fascinating glimpse into the life of one of America's most influential and successful businessmen.1928. Other volumes in this set include ISBN number(s): 0766162532. Volume 2 of 2. These volumes represent the biographical account of Jacob H. Schiff, the American banker and philanthropist. Written by a very close acquaintance of Schiff, this account of his life is as close to an autobiography as can be without his writing it himself. Schiff was a partner in Kuhn, Loeb and Company, later becoming the head of the firm. He was known for his role with E. H. Harriman against J. P. Morgan and Company and J. J. Hill in the struggle for control of the Northern Pacific Railroad, which later led to the stock market panic of May 9, 1901. His philanthropies included establishing a Semitic Museum at Harvard University, a chair for the study of German culture at Cornell, as well as various hospitals and schools of higher education. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. Because we believe this work is culturally important, we have made it available as part of our commitment for protecting, preserving, and promoting the world's literature in affordable, high quality, modern editions, that are true to their original work.
