Description
by Anne Henry Tidmore (Author), Mary Davis Henry (Author)
Mary Davis Henry did not know that she was writing a one-of-a-kind, first-hand account of daily life in the South before, during, and after the Civil War, when she tried to capture the spirit and story of her mother's life in The Annals of Ann Fennel Davis.
But she did just that; and in the writing, Mrs. Fennel's daughter became a steward of the truth of faith as it was lived out in generations before her and would help to shape the futures of generations to come. In the pages of this new and revised edition, which is now called Forest Home The Annals of Ann Fennel Davis, readers can enjoy an eye-opening authentic account of daily life in northern Alabama in the mid-1800's. There, Ann and her husband Absalom built a family life together that would produce the house Forest Home and generations of family members who would perpetuate Reverend Davis's and his wife Ann's faith in God and belief in the strength of nurturing a loving family and the power of serving a neighborly community. Brought back to life with additional content that expands a contemporary reader's understanding of those times, Forest Home was produced by the author's granddaughter Anne Henry Tidmore who is a committed historian and keeper of the flame of faith that abides still in this remarkable family. If you enjoyed the first volume One Mile From Trinity, a Southern Woman's Walk of Faith, you will savor this riveting, true-life account of family and faith during that tumultuous time in America's history when the Civil War split the population and some families. You will understand how traditions and home life shaped responses to the changing times--the call to war and secession--and why current discussions of that war time continue today. Devotees of Civil War history will want to add this remarkable account of those times to their own personal library. Check out the sample available free to read or download now.
