He has also been a fellow of the British Council and the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation. He has authored books and articles and is also a published poet and playwright. Kirsten Holst Petersen is an Associate Professor Emeritus of the University of Roskilde, Denmark. She was also a Guest Researcher at the the Nordic African Institute under the programme, \"Culture Image in and of Africa\" research programme anchored by Mai Palmberg.
