Cecil's Story is an autobiography by Cecil Pruette. He guides the reader through his childhood in the 1940's and 50's where he splits time between relatives in western York county and his family on Ebenezer Avenue in Rock Hill, South Carolina. It's a great look back at the way life was in that golden era.
Author Biography
After Cecil retired from the City of Rock Hill in 1998, he dedicated his life to helping others. He serves on the Salvation Army Board of Directors and organizes volunteers for the annual bell-ringing kettle. He has been active with the Gideon's for 25 years; serves as chaplain in the York Camp and the American Legion Post in York. He is an elder at Tirzah ARP Church and ministers to shut-ins He is a volunteer missionary with Volunteers in Medical Missions (VIMM) He will complete his 50th mission trip in February. He has been to India 8 times. He has written a book "A Cup of Cold Water" about his first 20 mission trips. NCO of the Year 1987. He was National Guardsman of the year in 1987. He has written a book "You Gotta Love It" about his 27 years in the military. He was named the 2004 recipient of the Rock Hill Sertoma Club's annual Service to Mankind Award given for outstanding humanitarian, heroic, and civic service. He was selected as the Christmas Angel by the Herald in 2006. He has been a volunteer at the Billy Graham Library for the past four years. He is a door keeper every Thursday. He is a certified Rapid Responder for the Billy Graham Team for disasters. He serves on the Board of Directors for World Witness. This is the ARP Churches missionaries all over the world. He went as a counselor for the youth of Rock Hill to Wales this past summer of 2009. He goes with the Youth of Tirzah ARP Church to deliver shoe boxes at Christmas and help with Bible School in the summer. He has written articles about his trips and his life for The Herald, Guide Post and Angels on Earth magazines. Since my work is voluntary, I have to pay my own way. I owe many people thanks for their financial assistance over these eleven years.
