Dykes Ronald H. Dykes (Author)

Building Ridges and Roads in the Korean Conflict tells the inside story of a combat engineers company from Scottsboro, Alabama, that served in the Korean "War". The contributions of units such as Company B aren't always fully appreciated. In this book, Dykes demonstrates their importance in the conduct of that conflict. Praise for the author's previous books: For Growing Up Hard: "Reading Growing Up Hard is like sitting on the porch sipping a glass of cold iced tea while listening to a favorite grandfather tell stories of what it was like to grow up in more difficult times."-The Alabama Review For James O. Haley: "You can't put the book down until you finish reading it for Dykes seizes your undivided attention."-Sen. Howell Heflin "I enjoyed it more than I can express. I really feel inadequate to comment on this excellent work."-Gov. Albert Brewer "Wonderful book"-Trial Lawyers Association "Thoroughly enjoyable"-Birmingham Bar

Author Biography

I live in Scottsboro, Alabama, and am married with one son. My hobbies include reading, writing, hiking, backpacking, and movies. Over the past dozen years or so I have been using oral histories to preserve the memories and experiences of elderly peiple from this area. Information gained from these tapes sheds light on the local history and culture from many decades ago. This ongoing project has resulted in four books, including the recollections of a prominent attorney (James O. Haley,1999), growing up in the early twentieth century (Growing up Hard, 2003), the military experiences of veterans of WW II ((Fighting the Just War, 2005) and the current book involving the Korean conflict. Three of the books, including Building Bridges, have been sponsored by the Jackson County Historical Association, which shares in the profits. In the future, I hope to write a similar book about the experiences of area residents in the Vietnam War.

Number of Pages: 120

Dimensions: 0.44 x 9 x 6 IN

Publication Date: April 09, 2010

https://booktolia.com/products/building-bridges-and-roads-in-the-korean-conflict-history-of-company-b-from-scottsboro-alabama-during-the-forgotten-war-hardcover
