Description

by Denise Cox Robinson (Author)

This is the story of a true entrepreneur. He discovered that his life's destiny would include loving, nuturing, and caring for an extended zoo family. The family would include tigers, alligators, monkeys, snakes, lions, bears, and many other creatures. It would be the only zoo in Austin, Texas during the 1940's, 50's and 60's. Narrated by the zookeeper himself, his wife and daughter, this adventure includes a lot of hilarious stories about his pets and customers. The book is inspiring as it portrays what one individual achieved with determination and true spirit.

Author Biography

Denise was born as the middle daughter of Alvin and Doris Cox. She enjoyed a normal childhood, but had an extra advantage of being a zookeeper's child who had endless playmates including ponies, lion cubs, and baby fawns. She married Norman Robinson in 1972 and moved to Spokane, Washington in 1977 along with their son, Chris. In 1983, she moved to Taipei, Taiwan for the better part of three years as Norman was General Manager of a keyboard manufacturing facility. In addition, Denise has traveled with her family to Korea, Australia, Japan, New Zealand, Hong Kong, Mexico, Canada, Germany, Italy, France, Belgium, England, Switzerland, and most of the United States. Denise and Norman returned back to Texas after living another ten years in Spokane. She retired after more than twenty years of school service and recently went to work for the State of Texas in Sherman. She enjoys spending time with Yahtzee (the dalmation), photography, bird watching, flowers, traveling, shopping, and reading but most importantly spending time with her husband, her Mother, Doris Cox who lives in Sherman, Texas; her son, Chris, who resides in Evanston, Illinois; and younger sister, Deedra who lives in West Palm Beach.
